Bees, Wasps, and Hornets

Honey bees, in general, do not infest homes the way that other flying pests do.  However, they can cause quite a bit of damage when they do.  Honey bees will chew completely through walls in order to get inside.  Then they start storing large amounts of honey.  These acts as an invitation to other bees and wasps.  Additionally, their waste will attract moths and beetles.

Honey Bee Removal

If a bee colony is found within a hole or a wall of a building/homes then it must be removed. Removing it alone might increase the chance of getting yourself at risk of a bee sting. Only trained experts, like us, can remove those hives safely.

Africanized Honey Bee Extermination

Africanized Honey Bees are often feared more than other honey bees as they are known to be more aggressive.  One reason that they are feared is that when  they sting, it will release a chemical substance, which is called pheromone, that signals for other bees to come attack. This can be dangerous for anyone, not just those who suffer from bee allergies.

In general, Africanized Honey Bees gain entrance to your home via small holes in the exterior walls.  Once inside, like the standard honey bee, they create a nest.  You may also happen to come across their nests hanging in various places on your property.  They are usually found in the Southern parts of the United States so be on the lookout and protect your home by calling Arlington Pest Control to help you safely remove these flying invaders.

Ground Nesting Bee, Wasp, and Hornet and Removal

Many people do not realize that stinging insects can nest in low places such as the ground.  Because of this, they only think to look up when looking out for nests.  Unfortunately, this puts them at risk for stepping right into a hornet’s nest that is on the ground.

Stinging insects such as wasps, hornets or yellow jackets often create ground nests and will burrow into the ground with multiple entry points.  You can often find these burrows along the edge of a bank or along a line of trees.  Some types of ground bees, wasps, and yellow jackets can be very dangerous to treat, so be sure to keep all children and pets away and do not try to remove them yourself.  Call a highly trained expert and do the job for you.

Carpenter Bee Extermination

Carpenter Bees can cause extensive damage because of their burrowing into the exposed dry wood of building decks, fascia and soffits, railings, windowsills, and wooden siding.  The holes they bore are about 3/8″ in diameter.  They then build their nests inside the hollowed out space.

If you find large amounts of sawdust along with pollen below a hole that fits the description above, then you should suspect a carpenter bee infestation. Arlington Pest Control will get rid of carpenter bees for you and seal up any areas where they have created holes in your home.
